And here’s a little background on Jon Maker…

Jon Maker is a composer, producer and DJ based in London, UK. As a dance music producer, he has become known for his distinct brand of dark, driving, mechanical techno. His releases have earned acclaim from such artists as Magda, Swayzak, Adultnapper, Josh Wink and Anderson Noise, along with radio and magazine support across the UK, Ireland, Germany and America. Jon Maker’s sets have brought crowds to fever pitch all across London, notably at venues such as Fabric, Public Life, Egg, Ministry Of Sound and many more.Jon has joined forces with Rob Meyer, a long time friend with whom he used to study classical music. Their partnership has proven massively successful in London’s Techno scene. Together, they are known as Maker + Meyer and have been playing intricate live DJ sets which have exemplified their real skill and talent both in production and performance. They are now headlining rooms at large scale techno events in London run by the likes of Adam Beyer’s Drumcode and Richie Hawtin’s M-nus records. Alongside such parties, Maker + Meyer currently hold a residency with Ultraplay at Cafe 1001, through which they’ve now become a staple of East London’s daytime afterparty culture.

Future releases from Jon Maker are now highly anticipated, and he is sought after for his skills in remixing. His collaborative studio work with Rob Meyer is equally promising, with some larger scale projects on the way, including a new event series known as ‘The Lab’. They are focusing on experimental live techno DJ sets which interact seamlessly with other electronic art forms.

Jon Maker’s passions in other areas of music and and art remain strong. His training in classical composition began at an early age, and now his work outside the DJ booth includes composition for concert, stage and screen. In 2011, his works will be performed at the Barbican Cinema and Shunt, and he has also been commissioned by the Guildhall School of Music & Drama to write an electronic score for their upcoming theatre production.

Catch Jon Maker playing alongside myself at the Ministry of Sound on January 22nd, 2011 (Stephan Bodzin, Marc Romboy and Robert Babicz will be  playingin the main room!) … more information to follow shortly. 🙂
